Description

Adolescents today are navigating a rapidly evolving educational environment marked by heightened academic expectations, social pressures, and structural inequities. These all contribute to a significant increase in school-related stress. This presentation explores this multifaceted issue of school stress and the impact it has on adolescent mental health. In reviewing current research and real-world experiences of teens we will examine how stressors of performance pressure, peer dynamics, and lack of resources for vulnerable populations such as neurodivergent teens impact their experience at school and their mental health. Attendees will have a clearer understanding of the issues that teens experience at schools and the impact it has upon them and they will learn practical strategies to support teens through symptoms awareness and advocating for appropriate resources and supports in the school environment.
