Learning Objectives
Participants will be able to:
-
Identify how socio-cultural narratives and values may limit or uplift us/feminist BIWOC mid-career professionals throughout our career.
-
Discuss how patriarchy and white supremacy shows up at the stage of mid career in various institutions.
-
Develop strategies for thriving and re-inventing themselves as mid-career feminist psychologists.
Educational Goal
To engage in candid conversations about BIWOC Psychologists’ career experiences, particularly looking at how some have resisted systemic challenges, how/when they chose to pivot career trajectories, how some have reinvented themselves in their careers, and ways they continue to reinvigorate themselves through connection with others.
Description
Many mid-career individuals have found liberation through career shifts that have allowed them to divest from oppressive systems, while others have felt empowered to resist and continue doing the work within systems. We invite you to join us and engage in truth talk about how they have settled into their professional identities, gained clarity about their values, and their insights about when they knew it was time to pivot or reinvent themselves in order to continue thriving. This panel will allow us an opportunity to validate and affirm the professional struggles and growth that many mid-career psychologists experience.
