Diane Hayashino, Ph.D. (she/her) (FACILITATOR)
Diane Hayashino, Ph.D. (she/her) is a licensed staff psychologist and previous training director at Counseling and Psychological Services at California State University, Long Beach. Her professional identity as an Asian American feminist Counseling Psychologist has been influenced through various experiences both as a clinician and faculty member over her career working in higher education for the past 20 years. She also enjoys a part-time private practice in the community. She received her doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Oregon and completed her doctoral internship and post doc at UC Irvine Student Health and Counseling Services.
Carmen Cruz, Psy.D. (she/her) (PANELIST)
Dr. Carmen “Cruz” (she/her) is a Licensed Psychologist and Educator. She is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at UT Southwestern Medical Center. Prior to this appointment, for 26 years, she served in various positions at Texas Woman’s University Counseling and Psychological Services in Denton, Texas, including Training Director of the APA-accredited doctoral internship program. She is a cultural and gender specialist who enjoys assisting individuals and organizations understand how to better work collectively. Her professional interests include teaching, clinical supervision, multicultural psychology, gender & sexuality, cultural/spiritual development, and the impact of stigma in seeking help. Dr. Cruz completed her undergraduate studies in Psychology and Criminal Justice at Florida International University in Miami, Florida and received her doctoral degree from the Center for Psychological Studies at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Some highlights from her career include: She served as the first Latinx ACCTA (Association of Counseling Center Training Agencies) President (2017-2021). She also served on CCTC (Council of Chairs of Training Councils) and specifically contributed to the CCTC 2020: Social Responsiveness in Health Service Psychology Education and Training Toolkit. Over 25 University Counseling Centers have invited Dr. Cruz to do a full day multicultural supervision training with permanent site supervisors. In 2020, she received the Janet E. Helms Award for Mentoring and Scholarship at the Columbia University Teacher’s College, 37th Annual Winter Roundtable. Her keynote was “A Supervisor’s Search for Meaning: Lessons Learned from a Relational Multicultural Approach to Mentorship,” which was subsequently published in TCP. She also co-authored a paper in the TCP Major Contribution “Sex Positivity in Counseling Psychology” edition, which won the APA Division 17 Annual Outstanding Paper Award. On a personal note, she is a Cuban American woman from Miami who now lives in a super cool, small music and college town in north Texas. She loves spending time with her wife, framily, and especially her cool cat, Macho. She is also an activist in her community of Denton, Texas, where she has founded two LGBTQ+ organizations to improve the lives of Dentonite youth, individuals and families, in hope of creating a legacy community center.
Alison Cerezo, Ph.D. (they/she) (PANELIST)
Dr. Alison Cerezo (they | she) is Senior Vice President of Research at mpathic, a conversation intelligence company committed to expanding human understanding through science-backed AI solutions that promote accuracy and trust. Alison is also a licensed psychologist (CA) and former Associate Professor of Counseling Psychology at UC Santa Barbara. Alison leverages their 15+ year career as a health equity researcher and clinician to build innovative approaches to care, including the use of AI for precision medicine. Alison's research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health and California Department of Public Health. They serve as the lead strategy evaluator of California's LBTQ Health Equity Initiative, a $17.5 million investment to improve the health of diverse LBTQ+ Californians.
Lisa Flores, Ph.D. (she/her) (PANELIST)
Dr. Lisa Flores (she/her) is the Frederick A. Middlebush Chair of Social Sciences and Associate Chair for Inclusive Excellence in the Department of Psychological Sciences at the University of Missouri. Her scholarship focuses on the educational and vocational development of Latinx, especially Latina women and those in STEM fields. Dr. Flores is Editor of the Journal of Latinx Psychology, past Editor of the Journal of Career Development, and past Associate Editor of the Journal of Counseling Psychology. She is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association (Divisions 17, 35, 45).
Charmain Jackman, Ph.D. (she/her) (PANELIST)
Dr. Charmain Jackman (she/her) is an award-winning psychologist, TEDx speaker, author, and leadership coach, with over two decades of experience in mental health. She is a visionary entrepreneur, storyteller, and a global mental health advocate. As the founder of InnoPsych, she is empowering lives by connecting individuals with therapists of color, transforming the narrative around therapy, and championing emotional well-being in the workplace. Dr. Jackman’s impactful work has garnered numerous accolades including the 2025 Boston Business Journal’s Innovators in Healthcare award and the 2021 American Psychological Association’s (APA) Citizen Psychologist Award. As a media contributor, Dr. Jackman has been featured on national media outlets including the Oprah Daily, CNN, New York Times, NPR, Forbes, Essence, Black Enterprise, HuffPost, PBS, Shondaland, and the Boston Globe. She is a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi, trained as a Pediatric Forensic Psychologist at Harvard Medical School, and is a proud alum of Goldman Sachs’ Black in Business program. Dr. Jackman’s debut book, The Black Therapist’s Guide to Private Practice and Entrepreneurship, equips BIPOC therapists with the tools to build profitable businesses. Dr. Jackman is a board member of the Citizens for Juvenile Justice (CFJJ) and is an appointed member of the Massachusetts 988 Commission.
Susana O. Salgado, Ph.D (FACILITATOR)
Dra. Susana O. Salgado (she/her) is a bilingual, Chicana Psychologist. She is the daughter of immigrants from Mexico, a 1st gen professional, a wife, and a mother. She is currently in private practice, where she provides therapy and immigration evaluations and offers consultation to the community, professionals, and organizations through workshops, presentations, and healing circles. She is committed to serving her community and has been practicing as a Psychologist for the past 18 years. She is committed to decolonizing our mental health practices through healing and education. Dra. Salgado launched her private practice and consultation in 2019 and is the creator of Mind Body Corazón, a space where the complexities of our Latinidad are uplifted as we move toward reclaiming our overall wellness and reconnecting with our ancestral wisdom. Dr. Salgado's approach is holistic in nature and strives to incorporate mind, body, spirit and corazón (heart). Her work is guided by decolonial, mujerista-liberation frameworks informed by Indigenous wisdom. Cultura and community building is at the center of her personal and professional life. Her areas of specialty are trauma, motherhood/maternal mental health, life transitions, race & culture related matters (e.g., immigration, acculturation, reclaiming & integrating of identities), BIPOC professional identity/career related matters (e.g., burnout prevention, self-care & self-preservation and working through imposter phenomenon), and grief & loss. She is passionate about supporting clinical development of current and future clinicians and has been intimately involved in consultation, training and supervision with doctoral and masters level students throughout her career. She has also served as president of California Latinx Psychological Association (CLPA).
