Educational Goal
The educational goal of this workshop is to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of sex addiction, its diagnostic criteria, its distinction from other sexual behaviors, the impact of betrayal trauma on partners, and the available treatment and support options for both addicts and their betrayed partners.
Description
This session provides an overview of sex addiction and its impact on betrayed partners. We will explore what defines sexual behaviors as an addiction, as well as behaviors that do not meet the criteria for sex addiction. Additionally, we will examine the distinctions and intersections between sex addiction, paraphilias, and sexual offending behaviors. We will also discuss the impact of betrayal trauma on partners of sex addicts, including its manifestations. Finally, we will review treatment options and 12-step programs available for both sex addicts and their betrayed partners.

Georgia Fourlas, DSW, LCSW, LISAC, CSAT-S
Georgia Fourlas is the Executive Director of Rio Retreat Center at The Meadows and brings over 20 years of experience in behavioral health. She has worked extensively with adults and children as a crisis counselor, trauma therapist, and addictions therapist. Holding both a master’s degree and a doctorate in social work, she has spent more than a decade in inpatient settings across state and privately funded agencies. Dr. Fourlas has also held leadership roles, including program coordinator, program director, and clinical director, and is an approved clinical supervisor by the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners. She employs an eclectic blend of theoretical perspectives and creative approaches to therapy, designed to engage both motivated and resistant patients, maximizing the potential for personal healing and growth.
