Description

This interactive and experiential workshop introduces clinicians to the practical application of Polyvagal Theory through action methods and embodied learning. Participants will explore how regulation and connection can be intentionally cultivated within therapeutic and group environments. Participants will not only learn about Polyvagal Theory conceptually, but will embody it through action methods such as sociometric exercises, mirroring, and doubling. These experiential tools will illustrate how safety and connection can be co-created in real time, allowing clinicians to practice regulation techniques both as facilitators and participants. Through these dynamic demonstrations, attendees will experience how to translate nervous system science into engaged, movement-based interventions that deepen awareness, build trust, and restore resilience within clinical and group settings.

Learning Objectives

Participants will be able to:

  • Apply polyvagal-informed interventions to support nervous system regulation in clinical settings.

  • Identify autonomic states in themselves and their clients to guide intervention choices.

  • Integrate relational and experiential techniques to support connection and repair.

  • Utilize action methods to shift clients from dysregulation toward safety and engagement.

Educational Goal

The educational goals of this workshop are to deepen clinicians’ ability to recognize and respond to nervous system states in themselves and others using Polyvagal-informed awareness and to build confidence in applying experiential, action-based interventions that foster safety, connection, and meaningful therapeutic change.
