Description

Hey, Hun! Have you seen THOSE posts on social media? The ones that profess to change your life with an unnamed product or financial freedom that allows you to be "be your own boss" while "joining my team?" Multilevel marketing has become woven into our social consciousness but few understand the tactics used to recruit, to keep people involved even when their relationships and finances suffer, and the parallels to high control cult groups. This training assists with learning how people are willingly participating in a financially and emotionally abusive system and justifying their own predatory or abusive behavior due to indoctrination techniques used to keep them buying in.

Learning Objectives

Participants will be able to:

  • Identify three psychologically manipulative tactics MLM reps use to recruit others into the system..

  • Apply Worden's Grief model to losses experienced by those leaving high pressure groups.

  • Integrate two new skills to support those deconstructing from their time in a coercive control environment.

Educational Goal

The goal of this workshop is to educate therapists and other helping professionals about the indoctrination tactics used by multilevel marketing to coerce people to join and stay in the system at their own detriment. Participants will learn ways to support clients who are trying to deconstruct their time spent in these types of systems in order to facilitate healing from a trauma informed lens.
