Description

Complex PTSD, Substance Use Disorders, and sexuality converge in adolescent clinical populations, particularly in residential treatment centers. Feeling othered based on sexual identity is a common trigger of emotion-based relapse in adolescents. This presentation will discuss clinical needs specific to this population, the impact of Complex PTSD, and ways to tailor programming that accommodate this sexual fluidity. Through a reflective, trauma-informed lens, participants will learn how to create felt safety during treatment so clients can explore and communicate these pivotal changes, in real time.

Educational Goal
