Description

We are currently experiencing a mental health crisis impacting children, youth, parents, educators, and therapists. While mind-body strategies are widely recognized as essential in trauma-responsive work, many clinicians still lack clear, practical guidance on how to teach these skills—and how to use them personally to mitigate secondary trauma and burnout. Drawing from the new guidebook I Am Safe: Trauma-Responsive Practices in Crisis Mental Health, this session offers simple, accessible, and practical strategies grounded in real-life experiences from schools, hospitals, and juvenile services.

Learning Objectives

Participants will be able to:

  • Explore how the mind-body connection works to keep us safe and how the nervous system can become stuck in an overly protective mode resulting in anxiety and/or depression.

  • Experience trauma-responsive mind-body strategies that can ease anxiety, balance energy levels and improve focus during times of struggle.

  • Discover how Inner Resources support physical, mental, and emotional health/well- being.

  • Build a toolkit of simple practices to begin to use and share right away.

Educational Goal

The educational goal of this workshop is to provide clinicians with practical, accessible mind-body strategies that can be effectively integrated into their therapeutic practices to address trauma and mitigate secondary trauma and burnout.

Target Audience

  • Addiction Professional
