As the Pathways to Innovation conference concludes, our closing panel, "From Vision to Reality: Embracing Innovation in Behavioral Health," will focus on transforming innovative ideas into actionable strategies within the behavioral health sector. This discussion will address the challenges professionals face when integrating new technologies and practices, particularly the apprehension that often accompanies change. Industry leaders will share their experiences and insights on overcoming these barriers, emphasizing the importance of fostering a culture that embraces innovation. Attendees will leave equipped with practical approaches to implement advancements in their organizations, ensuring they are prepared to meet the evolving needs of those they serve.
Presenters
Drew LaBoon is the Director of Operations for Pathways Recovery Centers and has been there since June 2023. He started in the admissions department in 2020, then worked in outreach where he lead fentanyl overdose awareness events across the state. He is a Griffin Communications/News 9 contributor to discuss the opioid and fentanyl crisis and serves on the board for the National Recovery Rally. Prior to that he worked various job in the defense contracting industry following his retirement from the military in 2016.
Drew served honorably under United States Special Operations Command for 17 years, has multiple combat deployments, and numerous awards and decorations. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Boston College in 2017 and originally planned on working for the intelligence community. His career in drugs and alcohol started shortly after.
His experience with addiction and alcoholism extends to both his personal and professional life. Two inpatient treatment episodes, and 5 detox treatment centers over a 4-year period provide Drew with an intimate understanding of addiction. In 2019 he admitted to residential treatment for the final time at the facility he now works for. Pathways Recovery Centers, along with actions taken in a 12-step recovery program, saved his life. Sharing his experience, strength and hope is the keystone of his own recovery; helping others know they are not alone, and recovery is possible.
Kimberly Cox is a distinguished professional in the healthcare business and clinical sectors, boasting over two decades of leadership experience across various programs. Her career highlights include pivotal management roles, leading to her current position as the Director of Clinical Services at Pathways. She has a proven track record in enhancing business communications and fostering inter-agency collaborations. Her tenure as Clinical Director at Country Road Operations, a Pathways affiliate, is marked by exceptional leadership in clinical program management and achieving a 100% compliance audit rating from the State of Oklahoma. Respected by peers, coworkers, and clients alike, Kimberly continuously hones her leadership skills to excel in her field. Her academic background is equally impressive, with a Master’s degree in Business from the University of Phoenix, a Master’s of Science in Psychology from Cameron University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley.
Trevor Colhoun is the CEO and co-founder of Trusted Provider Network (TPN.health), a professional networking platform specifically designed for licensed clinicians and vetted treatment providers to confidently navigate the business of behavioral health.
Trevor joined as a co-founder in October 2018 with a simple goal: Improving behavioral health outcomes by leveraging technology and prioritizing clinically matched care. Today, TPN.health is now one of the largest and fastest-growing behavioral networks in the country.
Trevor’s passion for improving the effectiveness of organizations and the lives of people is a theme that underscores his career and his personal life. As a private equity investor and business leader, Trevor has led restructurings and turnarounds of both public and private companies including most recently Nexsan, a data storage business (now StorCentric).
In addition, he has served on numerous philanthropic boards that focus on developing our nation’s youth including The Millbrook School in New York and SBP – a national advocate for systems improvement in disaster recovery. He is also a passionate supporter of Son of Saint in New Orleans.
With TPN.health, Trevor sees the potential of a mission-focused company striving to restructure an industry struggling to use modern technology. Growing up in Connecticut, going to school at the University of Oregon and now living in New Orleans, has propelled him to envision a company that has national scope and seeks to impact the lives of millions of people.
