This workshop will provide a deeper exploration of how early traumas create disrupted attachments, and how those wounds impact adult relationships. Attendees will learn how to identify a disorganized attachment style in clients and gain strategies to help clients work toward secure attachment. Participants will review evidence-based interventions for addressing attachment wounds in treatment plans. By exploring the root causes of relationship breakdown, clinicians will expand their toolkit for fostering secure attachment patterns

Educational Goal

The educational goal of this workshop is to provide attendees with a deeper understanding of how childhood trauma impacts adults and how these challenges present in clinical counseling settings.

Participants will be able to:

  • Describe 3 components of attachment theory as it relates to childhood trauma

  • Identify at least 2 indicators of a disorganized attachment style in a minor or adult client

  • Apply 2 clinical interventions to help clients work toward a secure attachment style

Chandler Cox, M.Ed, LPC, LPC-S/C is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Greenville, South Carolina with almost 10 years of clinical experience in trauma-informed care. Chandler specializes in Attachment-Focused Therapy and working with survivors of Intimate Partner Violence. Chandler obtained a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Winthrop University. Chandler serves as the Advocacy In Action Chair for the South Carolina Counseling Association, focusing on professional advocacy and public policy that best serves clinicians and clients.
