This presentation will explore how mindfulness practices can serve as a powerful, trauma-informed approach to healing and recovery in children who have experienced abuse and neglect. Attendees will learn the impact of childhood trauma on the brain and nervous system, and gain practical mindfulness tools to address these impacts.

The educational goal of this workshop is to provide attendees with tangible practices to share with clients to promote healing and growth following a traumatic experience.

Learning Objectives

Participants will be able to:

  • Define childhood trauma and describe at least two potential impacts on emotional, cognitive, and physical well-being.

  • Identify at least three impacts of childhood trauma on the brain and nervous system.

  • Describe at least two principles of mindfulness and their role in supporting trauma recovery.
