Description

In this final session, participants will integrate key AMBIT concepts to examine how disintegration can impact client care and team functioning. We will explore how fragmentation, conflict, and loss of shared understanding emerge in teams and networks working with complex clients, and what integrated practice looks like in contrast. Participants will be introduced to a practical AMBIT-informed tool to identify and address disintegration, with the goal of restoring shared thinking, strengthening collaboration, and sustaining mentalization across teams and networks.

Learning Objectives

Participants will be able to:

  • Participants will learn to identify the impact of disintegration on client care and team functioning, and recognize common signs of disintegration within teams.

  • Participants will learn how to use a reintegration skill that utilizes mentalization to address disintegration and strengthen team cohesion and client care.

  • Participants will learn the Pause, Name, Wonder skill to model reflective thinking in team discussions.

Presenters

Shelly Simpson, LCSW
Shelly serves as the Director of AMBIT (Adaptive Mentalization Based Integrative Treatment) at Ellenhorn and was previously the Clinical Director of Ellenhorn Los Angeles. She oversees, supervises, and actively participates in AMBIT teams. Shelly has also contributed to the field, having authored a chapter on Ellenhorn's implementation of AMBIT in a Dutch publication titled "AMBIT in Practice," and takes part in the global AMBIT community.
