Educational Goal

The educational goal of this workshop is the highlight the importance of implementing a comprehensive psychosexual evaluation to determine a client's level of sexual risk and the most effective treatment modalities to reduce the clients level of sexual risk.

Description

This workshop explores the critical role of comprehensive psychosexual evaluations in assessing sexual risk and guiding effective treatment planning for adolescent males. Participants will explore best practices for developing detailed sexual histories and disclosures, as well as methods for validating this information prior to testing. The course highlights the ethical importance of using third-party evaluators to ensure objectivity and integrity in the assessment process. Attendees will also learn how to interpret and apply evaluation results to inform individualized treatment approaches that reduce sexual risk and promote long-term behavioral change.

Presenters

David Zane is an accomplished behavioral health executive and licensed clinical mental health counselor with over 16 years of leadership experience in mental health, nonprofit, and community-based organizations. He serves as CEO and Clinical Director of Counseling Associates of Utah, where he has led significant organizational growth, expanding operations from one to four offices and tripling the client base in under three years. David holds master’s degrees in Leadership and Strategy from Amridge University, Counseling from Utah State University, and Business Administration from Western Governors University, as well as a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Business from Brigham Young University. His work is distinguished by a commitment to person-centered care, ethical leadership, and sustainable organizational development.
Shawn Brooks has over 34 years of experience in residential treatment and has dedicated his career to helping adolescent boys struggling with Problematic Sexual Behavior (PSB). He earned his Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Sociology from Brigham Young University in 1996 and has since focused on developing and implementing evidence-based programming designed to address the complex clinical and developmental needs associated with PSB. Over the course of his career, he has helped build eight residential treatment programs from the ground up, each designed to foster accountability, personal growth, and lasting change. Shawn currently serves as the Executive Director of Oxbow Academy, where he oversees five specialized programs providing a comprehensive continuum of care for boys ages 10 to 18. His leadership reflects a lifelong commitment to advancing best practices in treatment and creating structured, supportive environments that foster long-term growth and recovery.
