Tom Lewis

I’m Tom Lewis, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Certified Addiction Professional, and professional musician. I recently closed my private practice and am now available for consulting and trainings (on utilizing music in psychotherapy or addictions treatment). My experience, education and ongoing addiction therapy training were all utilized to assist each client in finding their own solutions for mental health, and maintaining a balanced life.
In my practice the client comes first. What brought them to therapy? What do they want to get from therapy? What is already “working” for them? What isn’t working? What would they like to be different… or even better? Utilizing a person centered “eclectic” approach in helping them examine the past – “where they were”; the present – “where they are now”; and the future – “where they’d like to be”. Then utilizing Motivational Interviewing techniques and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy helping them figure out “how to get there!”
The decision to begin psychotherapy or teletherapy is a challenging one. It takes strength and courage. I always admire and respect those seeking help. By helping one find solutions clients could move forward with their lives. I have also integrated music into therapy sessions if the client was open. As each person has different issues and goals we would work together to design a personal treatment experience.
