Shawn Roberson

Shawn Roberson, MS, LCMHCS is the owner of Sunshine Counseling & Consulting Services, PLLC located in Winston Salem, North Carolina. Born in Texas to a military family, Shawn grew up in a variety of places in the South, Midwest, and Northeast. Her bright, upbeat personality and frequent smiles prompted her friends and family to call her “Smiley,” and “Sunshine” – inspiring the name of her practice.
After earning her master’s degree in Human Resource/Business and Industry Counseling from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, Shawn went on to become a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in 2009 and has made her home In Winston-Salem for the last 23 years. She has worked with clients through non-profit organizations, the community behavioral health clinic, managed care, and the local school system before starting her own practice in 2016. She currently works with adults and youth ages 6 and older offering consultation, individual psychotherapy, parenting sessions, family counseling, and life coaching via telehealth.
Shawn is a firm believer in a holistic approach to good mental health that includes time outdoors, good nutrition, positive relationships with others, and spiritual practices. In her free time, she enjoys walking, running, biking, spending time with friends, traveling and doting on her young nieces and nephews.
Shawn currently serves as the President-Elect for the Licensed Clinical Counselors of North Carolina Association; she has served on the Advocacy Committee with the same Association. Shawn has also served on the board of CareNet, a statewide, community-based counseling organization affiliated with Atrium Health. She speaks to local church groups, has been a guest on the podcast “Changing the Conversation” and was a speaker at the Resiliency Conference for Foundation Health Partners in Fairbanks, Alaska.
