Dr. Patrice Sentino is a native of Chicago, Illinois (relocated to New Orleans, Louisiana in 1982). Dr. Sentino holds a Doctor of Education in Educational Psychology & Technology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology, a Doctor of Social Work from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, a Master of Social Work from Southern University at New Orleans, and a Bachelor of Substance Abuse (Addiction Studies) from Southern University at New Orleans.
As CEO of the Center for Hope Children and Family Services, Dr. Sentino’s areas of expertise are in supervision/administration, addiction, behavioral and health/mental health, and research that focuses on educational and behavioral outcomes. With over 25 years of experience, she dedicates her time to assisting children, adolescents, and adults within the community distressed by mental illness and emotional disturbance to achieve their hopes, dreams, and quality of life goals.
Dr. Sentino is immensely passionate about education, mental, and behavioral health; her professional work has consistently reflected this. Dr. Sentino is an Assistant Professor in the School of Social Work at Southern University at New Orleans. She has taught as an adjunct lecturer (Professor) at the University of Southern California; and Columbia University; in the School of Social Work (she teaches Policy and Practice in Social Work organizations, Human Behavior in the Social Environment, Direct Services, Research, Policy Advocacy in Professional Social Work, and Child &Social Welfare).
Dr. Sentino is a licensed clinician and CEO of the Center for Hope Children and Family Services, established in 2008. Center for Hope provides behavioral health, mental health, and a host of other services to individuals and families within the Greater New Orleans Metropolitan area and the second location in St. Tammany Parish. She recognizes the major challenges of systemic racism, health disparities, access to care, and many other social injustices; she continues the fight to eradicate those inequalities many individuals and families encounter in her practice and throughout the Greater New Orleans Metropolitan area. Through her civic and community engagement to address public concerns through advocating for minorities, populations at risk (underserved), and the human rights of individuals, she is driven by her advocacy while giving her a sense of enjoyment in serving hundreds of New Orleanians.
As a clinician, researcher, educator, community organizer, and visionary, Dr. Sentino works toward impacting ever-changing communities throughout the Metropolitan area of New Orleans. Through innovative, cutting-edge ideas, she helps develop, support, and transform systems into prominence. She has not only acquired the necessary insight and understanding to serve her community but also demonstrated the determination and passion needed.
