Pamela Somervell

Pamela M. Somervell, MD, ABFM, ABPM: Board Certified in Addiction Medicine.
Dr. Somervell graduated from Saint Louis University School of Medicine in 2006. She subsequently completed a Family Medicine residency at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Indiana. Following residency, she worked as a primary care physician at a Federally Qualified Health Center in rural Southwest Virginia. She became very concerned about the prevalence of substance use disorders in her patient population. Dr. Somervell began providing buprenorphine treatment to her primary care patients with opioid use disorders in 2014 (via the DEA-X waiver program). She became medical director of a methadone clinic (OTP facility) in 2017, and she became Board Certified in Addiction Medicine later that same year. She has treated patients with addiction in a variety of outpatient settings (private clinic, FQHC clinic, Community Service Board, and OTP facility). For the past few years, she has spent most of her time supervising inpatient residential addiction treatment. She is currently the Medical Director for three inpatient substance abuse treatment facilities (two for adults and one for adolescents).
