About

Deborah Visconi is President and Chief Executive Officer of Bergen New Bridge Medical Center, which is both the largest hospital and licensed nursing home in New Jersey. Ms. Visconi has more than 30 years of experience as a healthcare leader at major hospitals and health centers throughout the New York/New Jersey metropolitan region.
As the only Latinex hospital executive in the state, Deb understands the issues of underserved and minority communities. Bergen New Bridge is a safety net hospital and as part of its mission, it is committed to providing care for anyone who needs it, regardless of ability to pay. Since taking the reins at Bergen New Bridge, Ms. Visconi prioritized community needs and outreach and transformed the struggling community, safety net hospital into a destination hospital with equitable access to healthcare for all.
Under her leadership, Bergen New Bridge became a Veterans Community Care Provider, ensuring access to care for the 40,000 veterans that reside in Bergen County. The Medical Center opened the first LGBTQ Wellness Center in Northern New Jersey; expanded programs and services, and measurably improved safety, quality healthcare outcomes, and the patient experience.
Ms. Visconi launched pioneering technology initiatives that led Bergen New Bridge to be the first hospital in the state to connect to the New Jersey Health Information Network (NJHIN). Three years ago, she led the way for Bergen New Bridge to partner with Rutgers Medical School to bring state of the art, emerging and transformation care models to its patients and provide for a pipeline of skilled and knowledgeable physicians to join her team.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Ms. Visconi made Bergen New Bridge a state leader in patient care and staff safety. Early on, when officials feared hospitals would be overwhelmed by COVID patients, she oversaw construction of two temporary treatment centers — transforming the gym and a parking lot to accommodate 130 additional patient beds. When testing became a priority, she transformed one of those sites into a testing center and later a vaccination center. She worked with the County to launch mobile testing and vaccination programs that reached thousands of community residents who otherwise might not have received them.
Ms. Visconi serves on the boards of the New Jersey Hospital Association, the American Hospital Association Regional Policy Committee, the Hospital Alliance of New Jersey, the Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey, Care Plus Bergen and Eastwick College. She is President of the Northvale Board of Health.
Since becoming President and CEO of Bergen New Bridge, Ms. Visconi has been named to healthcare leaders and influencer lists by Modern Healthcare, Crain’s, NJBIZ, ROI-NJ, and Becker’s Hospital Review among others. Ms. Visconi was selected as a Modern Healthcare Top 25 Women Leader and most recently was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters by Felician University’s School of Nursing.

Her intense passion for patient well-being, her entrepreneurial leadership style and the depth of her experience directing management in complex healthcare environments, makes Ms. Visconi a much sought-after thought leader and speaker.
