About
David Cunningham has been in the addiction treatment profession since 1990. He has served as East Tennessee President, Tennessee State President and served as the Southeastern Regional Vice President for NAADAC. He has been the recipient of numerous awards including the Tennessee the Henry A. Ashe Professional of the Year in East Tennessee, the State Professional of the Year Award in Tennessee, runner up for the National Professional of the Year (NAADAC), the Tim Kerin Red Ribbon Award for Community Achievement with Child and Family Services and Helping Pre-Natal Chemically Exposed Children and Adults, East Tennessee Lifetime Achievement Honoree and most recently the Tennessee State Lifetime Achievement Award. He has also been made an Honorary Member of Clean & Sober In the Wind Motorcycle Club of Portland, Oregon.
Cunningham's experience has included program development, supervision, counseling, NAADAC Approved Educational Provider, holds the Tennessee Certificate as Qualified Clinical Supervisor, interventions, EAGALA Certification for Equine Therapy, consulting, training, and volunteers time with American Red Cross, schools and local treatment facilities. Cunningham is currently the Director of Clinical and Family Relations at Cirque Lodge in Utah. He is a passionate member of NAADAC, a mentor to those entering the addiction profession and an advocate for those continuing to suffer from the disease of addiction. David is dedicated to the 12-step philosophy, leadership in the recovery field, the encouragement of others, and the promotion of sober lifestyles.
Cunningham says that of all of his accomplishments his personal recovery and his family are among his greatest assets. He gives all credit to God, all of those who came before him in the profession and recovery, his mentors over the years including but not limited to Sharon Trammell, Kathy Benson, Annie Woodard, and a host of other wonderful leaders, his wife Melissa and there 4 children. “I have been surrounded with winners ever since I received the gift of recovery and entered the profession for that I am Forever Grateful. Cunningham says that of all of his accomplishments his personal recovery and his family are among his greatest assets. He gives all credit to God, all of those who came before him in the profession and recovery, his mentors over the years. I have been blessed with a wonderful national and international network of friends both in the profession and recovery.”
Hobbies include hiking, fishing, nature, wildlife, landscaping, a good movie, Mr. Fix-it (or not) at home, swimming and top of the list would be doing any of these with those I love.
