Annette Newton-Baldwin is the Assistant Director of Programming and Outreach as well as a full-time counselor at the University Counseling Center. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor as well as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Annette is a native of Slidell, Louisiana. In 1997, she earned a Master of Arts in Counseling from the University of Louisiana at Monroe. She has a special interest in substance abuse recovery counseling as well as working with trauma. Annette has worked in a variety of settings including Bancroft Neuro Health Rehabilitation Center in Covington and New Orleans, Straight and Narrow Treatment Center of Baton Rouge, and LifeStreams Behavioral Center of Leesburg, Florida. Annette has been employed at Southeastern since 2003. She has worked as grant coordinator with the Transforming Youth in Recovery, National Highway Safety Commission and Tobacco free living grants. Annette has also served as TRACC coalition Chair as well as President of the Junior Auxiliary of Hammond. Annette is ARISE Trained with Arise Continuing Care with Intervention. She recently helped bring Collegiate Recovery Programming to Southeastern Louisiana University. LION UP Recovery is the first support program for students in recovery at a public university in the state of Louisiana.
