About
My name is Alysia Kirk, but I am better known as Nikki. I received my Masters Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Middle Tennessee State University in 2016. I have been practicing as a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Tennessee since 2019, with over 10 years of experience working in mental and behavioral health with a variety of ages including children, adolescents, and adults. My experience is varied across settings, including residential treatment for co-occurring disorders, outpatient group practice with a specialization in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and private practice. I have provided individual and group therapy, as well as DBT skills groups for adolescents and adults.
As a mixed race woman and former Division I athlete, I bridge lived experience with clinical training to help teens, young adults, and adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression, identity and belonging, low self-esteem, trauma, and phase of life transitions. My therapy style is relational, supportive, humorous, and directive. I'm all about finding ways to make therapy enjoyable, even when it's challenging. My approach to therapy is integrative and holistic, combining Brainspotting, DBT, CBT, IFS, Person-Centered therapy, and Experiential techniques. A top priority of mine is to meet clients where they are, and calibrate treatment and my approach to what will for best for them as we work together to meet their goals.
