Educational Goal
Description
Traumatic experiences often leave behind more than just memories—they embed themselves in the body, creating a “living legacy” of persistent emotional and physical responses. In this comprehensive training, internationally renowned trauma expert Janina Fisher, PhD explores how trauma fragments memory and disrupts the nervous system, leading to symptoms such as dissociation, chronic anxiety, addiction, and self-destructive behavior.
Drawing from decades of clinical experience and the latest in neuroscience, Dr. Fisher challenges traditional talk therapy methods, showing why recounting traumatic events can sometimes retraumatize rather than heal. Instead, she offers an integrative, body-based approach that helps clinicians recognize trauma responses as adaptive survival strategies—ones that can be transformed, not pathologized.
Participants will gain tools to better understand and treat the implicit, body-held memories that keep clients stuck in patterns of distress. Through this course, clinicians will learn how to help clients develop a new relationship with their trauma—one that fosters trust, regulation, and lasting healing.
