Description
This workshop explores how shame, trauma, attachment wounds, nervous system dysregulation, and maladaptive sexual experiences interact to form and sustain addictive patterns. Using an integrated neurobiological and relational framework, participants will learn how these factors reinforce one another and hijack coping, presence, and connection. The training highlights how addiction becomes a primary regulation strategy and the exponential damage that follows. Clinicians will be introduced to a bi-directional treatment approach that addresses physiology, trauma narratives, behavior containment, and relational repair.
Learning Objectives
Participants will be able to:
-
Participants will be able to identify how trauma, attachment wounds, shame, and autonomic nervous system dysregulation interact to form and maintain compulsive sexual behavior.
-
Participants will be able to apply an integrated, trauma-informed treatment framework that addresses physiological regulation, trauma processing, and relational repair to interrupt addictive cycles.
-
Participants will be able to distinguish between behavior-focused interventions and trauma- and attachment-informed approaches when treating sexual addiction.
Educational Goal
Participants will gain a clear understanding of how trauma, attachment wounds, nervous system dysregulation, and maladaptive sexual experiences interact to form and maintain sexual addiction. They will learn an integrated, neurobiologically informed treatment framework that addresses both regulation and trauma to interrupt the addictive cycle and support lasting recovery.
