Description
Tibetan Buddhism is a respected resource for understanding and preparing for the end of life, as exemplified in the famous Tibetan Book of the Dead. This presentation explores how ancient Tibetan perspectives can be applied in contemporary clinical practice to help individuals and clinicians address fear of death, support end-of-life transitions, and deepen their capacity for compassionate presence.
From the Tibetan perspective, death is understood as an illusion, and aging and dreaming are viewed as preparatory practices for dying. By cultivating insight into what ends and what continues after death, participants will examine how fear can be transformed into fearlessness and how the greatest obstacle—death—can become a profound opportunity for growth. This session integrates spiritual perspectives with therapeutic applications, offering practical tools that clinicians can incorporate into work with clients facing grief, loss, existential anxiety, or end-of-life challenges.
