Description
School avoidance is not a disorder or diagnosis; rather a behavior, a symptom that indicates there is something substantial going on for a student internally and perhaps in their environment. As often is the case for mental health professionals, we are helping children and often also helping their caregivers and families resolve the underlying issues of a behavior as well as address the symptomatic behavior itself. This training will provide strategies for clinicians and school counselors to use for identifying and supporting students exhibiting school avoiding behavior and their parents/caregivers.
