Educational Goal
The educational goal of this presentation is to provide attendees with increased knowledge of the effects of substance use during pregnancy treatment options and tools for working with pregnant and postpartum clients.
Description
This presentation will focus on the effects of substance use during pregnancy and treatment options available during pregnancy and postpartum. Prevalence rates, commonly used substances, and effects on the pregnant person and baby will be discussed. Various mental health treatment approaches and interventions will be presented to give attendees tools for working with pregnant and postpartum clients.

Presenters
Dr. Adrianne Trogden is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Supervisor, as well as a Licensed Addiction Counselor and Certified Clinical Supervisor in the State of Louisiana. She graduated with a Ph.D. in Counselor Education from the University of New Orleans in 2017 and graduated with a Master’s in Community Counseling from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2004. She has worked in mental health and addiction fields since 2002 in various areas, including: home-based counseling, addiction treatment, dual-diagnosis, partial hospitalization with adolescents, private practice, transitional housing for women, children services, Homebuilders, and juvenile court. She is trained in EMDR and Acudetox. She is the COO at Counsel NOLA, is a professor at the University of the Cumberlands, and has a private practice in New Orleans. She contracts with the United States Navy to supervise Navy substance abuse counselors, is a CARF surveyor, and owns Trogden Counseling & Consulting, LLC.
