Join us for this educational session to learn how to give strong recommendations for on-time HPV vaccination. The Announcement Approach Training, a proven method for increasing HPV vaccination, teaches health care providers and professionals how to make and support strong HPV vaccination recommendations. The training includes: Reviewing evidence on HPV vaccination and presumptive announcements, Building skills for using announcements and counseling hesitant parents, and, Practicing the application of these skills with peers.

After the training, participants will be able to apply and implement the announcement approach in clinical settings where HPV vaccination is recommended and administered.

Learning Objectives

Participants will be able to:

  • Summarize current clinical evidence regarding HPV and the HPV vaccine.

  • Formulate a clear, on-time HPV vaccination recommendation announcement that addresses parental vaccine hesitancy.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of HPV and communication and response techniques through interactive role-play exercises.

Educational Goal

After the training, participants will be able to apply and implement the announcement approach in clinical settings where HPV vaccination is recommended and administered.

Presenters

Heather Svenson, MD, FAAP
Dr. Heather Svenson is a Board Certified Pediatrician with over twenty five years of experience practicing Pediatrics. She is originally from Charlotte, North Carolina. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Cum Laude, from Wake Forest University in Winston Salem, North Carolina. She obtained her Medical Doctorate and completed her Pediatric residency at East Carolina School of Medicine in Greenville, North Carolina. She is passionate about caring for patients and their families. She is dedicated to helping people living healthier lives. Dr Svenson has two children, Erik and Hanna. She and her husband enjoy working on the garden and walks with their dogs in their free time.
