A provider’s recommendation is the number one reason parents choose to vaccinate their children. Join us for this educational session to learn how to give strong recommendations for on-time HPV vaccination.

The Announcement Approach Training, a proven method for increasing HPV vaccination, teaches health care providers and professionals how to make and support strong HPV vaccination recommendations. The training includes: reviewing evidence on HPV vaccination and presumptive announcements, building skills for using announcements and counseling hesitant parents, and practicing the application of these skills with peers.

After the training, participants will be able to apply and implement the Announcement Approach in clinical settings where HPV vaccination is recommended and administered.

This training is well suited for physicians, advanced practice providers, and clinical teams seeking practical tools to strengthen vaccine recommendations and improve HPV vaccination rates in their practice.

Learning Objectives

Participants will be able to:

  • Summarize current clinical evidence regarding HPV and the HPV vaccine.

  • Formulate a clear, on-time HPV vaccination recommendation announcement that addresses parental vaccine hesitancy.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of HPV and communication and response techniques through interactive role-play exercises.

Presenters

Brandy Roy, MD
Dr. Brandy Roy is a Board-Certified Pediatrician with over twelve years of experience practicing Pediatrics. She is originally from Carencro, Louisiana. She received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Xavier University of Louisiana. She obtained her Medical Doctorate from LSU-Health Science New Orleans and completed her Pediatric Residency at the University of Maryland in Baltimore. She is a passionate advocate for child health and healthcare equity. She has three daughters, Reagan, Riley, and Ryann. She enjoys any kind of arts & crafts along with reading thriller books in her spare time.
Metee Comkornruecha, MD
Dr. Comkornruecha is employed by Nicklaus Children’s Pediatric Specialists, the physician-led group practice of Nicklaus Children’s Health System. He is the director of the Division of Adolescent Medicine and Nicklaus Children’s Pediatric Specialists chief for the Section of Adolescent Medicine at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. Dr. Comkornruecha earned his medical degree from the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center in Memphis. He completed his residency in pediatrics and a fellowship in adolescent medicine at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. His clinical interests include the medical treatment of eating disorders, polycystic ovarian syndrome, and adolescent male health issues. Dr. Comkornruecha is board-certified in pediatrics and adolescent medicine. He is a member of the Society of Adolescent Health and Medicine and the Academy for Eating Disorders. Dr. Comkornruecha has lectured on a wide range of topics, including male teen health, eating disorders, menstrual irregularities, and pre-participation sports examinations. His work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and he is frequently quoted as a subject-matter expert in the media.
