To increase knowledge regarding how self-care is an essential and necessary component of preventive care, to increase knowledge of the systemic barriers for diverse communities to implement self-care, and to provide solutions/resources to help diverse communities implement self-care despite those systemic barriers.

Description

This presentation will focus on understanding self-care for diverse communities and transforming lives through intentionally cultivating well-being. In particular, this presentation will discuss the basic pillars of self-care and how self-care is an essential and necessary component of preventive care. It will also focus on the historical context of self-care as well as challenges and systemic barriers to self-care for diverse communities. Lastly, this presentation will provide means, including community resources, for self-care for the most vulnerable populations that circumvent systemic barriers.
