Educational Goal
Description
Self-harm continues to be a prevalent issue in the behavioral health space, especially among youths. This presentation aims to shed light on integrative approaches to manage and understand self-harm, including for those navigating current self-harm as well as those in recovery that are navigating an ever-present reminder of past adversity.
Our session will explore the realities of living with self-harm scars, how triggers can perseverate even after years of recovery, and practical strategies for helping patients who currently self-harm or have self-harmed in the past. Participants will leave with a greater understanding of self-harm as a present and past issue for their patients, ways to strengthen trigger tolerance, and how to help patients navigate their relationships with scars.
