Description

Binge eating disorder and binge eating behaviors are characterized by a sense of loss of control. In this presentation, we will review the diagnostic criteria for binge eating disorder, the evidence-based treatments recommended to interrupt binge eating behaviors, and specific interventions that can help clients to regain control and improve their relationship with food.

Presenters

Rachael Lamoureux (she/her/hers) is a licensed mental health counselor and lead clinician of the virtual Free to Be Intensive Outpatient Program for Binge and Emotional Eating at Monte Nido|Walden. Rachael started at Walden as an intern in 2017 and has worked with adolescents and adults in Intensive Outpatient and Partial Hospital levels of care. Rachael specializes in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and began working primarily with clients with binge eating disorder in 2022. Rachael is also an adjunct professor of psychology at Assumption University, where she has designed courses introducing students to the etiology, diagnosis, and treatment of eating disorders. Rachael received her master's degree in clinical counseling psychology at Assumption University in 2018.

Katie Gustamachio (she/her/hers) is a registered dietitian and program director of the virtual Free to Be Intensive Outpatient Program for Binge and Emotional Eating at Monte Nido|Walden. Katie has worked for Walden since 2013, with adolescents and adults throughout all levels of care. She has a passion for working with clients struggling with binge eating disorder and has helped foster and grow the Free to Be program since it shifted to a telehealth model in 2020. Katie is proud to be the first dietitian at Walden to hold a program director role. She completed her dietetic internship at Saint Louis University in 2012, and her master’s degree in health education with an eating disorder concentration at Plymouth State University in 2020.
