Description
Eating disorders are serious mental health conditions characterized by persistent disturbances in eating behaviors, body image, and attitudes toward food and weight. They frequently occur alongside psychiatric comorbidities such as depression, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, substance use disorders, and trauma-related conditions. These co-occurring conditions can increase symptom severity, complicate treatment, and negatively affect overall functioning and recovery. Recognizing and addressing both the eating disorder and associated psychiatric conditions is essential for comprehensive, effective care.
