This workshop focuses on risks associated with social media use, particularly problematic social media use in children and adolescents. Objectives include distinguishing between healthy/typical and problematic media use; developing tools to screen for problematic media use; and acquiring strategies to support youth use social media in healthier ways.

The educational goal of this workshop is to learn about problematic versus typical/healthy social media use. Learners will develop strategies to screen for and address problematic media use among youth.

Presenters
Sarah E. Domoff, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor at the University at Albany, in the Department of Psychology. Dr. Domoff completed her PhD at Bowling Green State University in Clinical Psychology (Child Clinical concentration) and post-doctoral training at the University of Michigan. She has developed measures (Problematic Media Use Measure; Domoff et al., 2019) that screen for problematic media use in children and adolescents. Dr. Domoff is a leading scholar on the etiology of problematic media use across childhood.
