Description

This course focuses on enhancing providers’ understanding of perinatal death and its effects on parents and family members. Furthermore, this course will provide a cumulative overview of a fully-comprehensive family support and perinatal bereavement program, which emphasizes family-centered care, trauma-informed care, and using an interprofessional team approach.

LeighAnn Sutton, LBSW, CPLC

LeighAnn Sutton, LBSW, CLPC, is the Perinatal Bereavement Coordinator for Butterfly’s Embrace Perinatal Bereavement Program at West Tennessee Healthcare (WTH) system in Jackson, Tennessee. She is a licensed social worker and serves on the Perinatal Hospice Team, caring for terminally-ill babies and their families. LeighAnn has worked for WTH for 24 years, serving as team leader for Butterfly’s Embrace since its inception in 2015. With 28+ years of experience in the field of grief, she has provided educational trainings on Perinatal Loss and Perinatal Hospice care to hospitals, clinics, and providers throughout the Southern Region. She received her Bachelor of Science in Social Work from the University of Tennessee at Martin in 1997 as well as credentials from the Hospice & Palliative Care Center as a Certified Perinatal Loss Counselor.
