Description
A critical tool that outlines a Peer’s progress in recovery, and their professional work, is a routine of self-care and personal advocacy. Awareness of relevant laws, program policies, and ethics is essential for Peer workers to provide trauma-informed services. This session will provide a basic understanding of the rights of a Peer worker and the individuals they serve as described in the Olmstead Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Confidentiality will also be highlighted in exploring the scope of a Peer Specialist so that attendees gain an understanding of the ethical considerations of their work.
