|

Information

Learning Objectives

Participants will be able to:

  • Analyze how mindful awareness can enhance client engagement and strengthen the application of tools from CBT, DBT, MI, ACT, and 12-Step approaches.

  • Apply integrated mindfulness practices to help clients identify values, increase self-awareness, and make intentional, values-based choices during the therapeutic process.

  • Differentiate between short-term state changes produced by mindfulness exercises and long-term trait development fostered through an integrated, mindful way of living.

Educational Goal

By applying mindfulness as a unifying process rather than a standalone technique, clinicians will gain practical methods to strengthen engagement, values-based decision-making, and long-term behavior change.

Description

In this engaging and practical training, John Bruna will explore how an integrated mindfulness curriculum can help clients move from passive participation to genuine engagement and ownership of their recovery process. Rather than adding mindfulness as a standalone exercise, this approach embeds mindful awareness and intentional living into the heart of evidence-based treatment, creating the bridge between knowing therapeutic tools and living them.

Participants will learn how mindfulness skills can integrate with other evidence-based modalities, such as CBT, DBT, MI, ACT, and 12-Step frameworks, transforming short-term behavioral changes into sustainable personal growth.

This presentation offers providers an applied process for helping clients develop intrinsic motivation, values-based decision-making, and the confidence to author their own treatment and recovery journey.
