  • Summarize the current data on rates of prevalence for NSSI

  • Interpret validated screening tools for assessment and treatment of NSSI, including clinical intervention and level of care

Educational Goal

The educational goal of this workshop is to provide participants with a foundational understanding of non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI), dispel common myths surrounding this behavior, and equip with tools to identify and address NSSI in clinical practice.

Description

Non-suicidal self-injury is a behavior often misunderstood by both non-clinicians and clinicians. This workshop will explore the different emotional drivers and motivations for engaging in this behavior. The content of this workshop orients participants in the identification and screening of this behavior with the goal of determining a clinical approach to address it in their treatment setting.

Don Mitckess, LCPC, CRADC has been in the behavioral health field for over 30 years and has had the privilege of working with a variety of populations across the lifespan. He has served in both clinical leadership and business development roles and has been an invited speaker locally, regionally and at a state level on topic that range from SUD, nonsuicidal self-injury, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation and other innovative treatments in the field of behavioral health.
