Description
The goal of this presentation is to help providers expand their understanding of trauma and the mind-body connection in response to trauma, including the use of substances to cope. We will discuss how to promote post traumatic growth versus decline utilizing the concepts of neuroplasticity. Multiple methods of treating trauma and substance abuse will be covered as a means of expanding options available to both providers and the clients they serve.

Redefining trauma while understanding neuroplasticity and its application with trauma and addiction
Recognizing post traumatic growth and post traumatic decline
Gain a better understanding of addiction and how to improve outcomes in trauma treatment

Presenters
Lori Stelzer is an LPC-S trained in EMDR, IFS, PIT II trained, CCTP and ADHD-CCSP. She has a love for helping people in the mental health field for over a decade and has been sober since 2012 herself. She loves to find out the WHY of things which has driven a strong interest in exploring neuroscience as it applies to the mental health fields. Her specialties are trauma, substance abuse and neurodivergent popukatuins. She has worked with a variety of clients from 18 months to being in their 70's and is currently the family education program facilitator at The Meadows Texas where she works with her patients and their families to create more understanding and support that works for both sides.
