The presenter aims to promote effective clinical care when working with individuals who identify as neurodiverse. We will explore varying perspectives on the term and consider how to minimize pathologizing language when describing clients. The presenter will share practical recommendations we can offer clients to support their flourishing in school, work and social relationships.

Educational Goal

The educational goal of this workshop is to train participants on the meaning of the terms like neurodivergence and neurodiversity, learn to modify pathologizing language used in sessions and reports and provide practical recommendations to improve client functioning aligned with their goals.

Presenters

Elisha Eveleigh, PH.D. is a psychologist working with children and adolescents. She provides group and individual therapy in addition to psychological testing. Dr. Eveleigh offers an adolescent Dialectical Behavioral Therapy group as well as the PEERS program. She frequently receives referrals for autism and ADHD testing.
