Description

This interactive workshop is designed as a refresher for counseling students and recent graduates preparing for the National Counselor Examination (NCE). Recognizing the high-stakes nature of the exam and the volume of content, this session will provide an accelerated review of the eight core CACREP competencies for licensure success.

Educational Goal

Participants will strengthen their knowledge of the foundational counseling competencies assessed on the National Counselor Examination (NCE) and reinforce their ability to apply these concepts to ethical, culturally responsive, and clinically sound decision-making. This program will increase participants' confidence in integrating core counseling knowledge into both licensure preparation and professional practice.

Learning Objectives

Participants will be able to:

  • Identify key concepts from each of the eight CACREP Common Core Areas that serve as the foundation for the National Counselor Examination (NCE).

  • Analyze NCE-style questions involving Social and Cultural Diversity and Group Counseling and Group Work to determine the most ethical and clinically appropriate response.

  • Apply knowledge from Career Development, Human Growth and Development, and Counseling and Helping Relationships to develop a comprehensive case conceptualization for a client scenario.
