Participants will be able to:

Apply the Gottman Method Couples Therapy Assessment to understand each couple's place on the spectrum of trust.

Participants will learn the 24 steps of the “Gottman-Rusbult-Glass” cascade toward betrayal and understand this model’s diagnostic implications for treatment planning and implementation.

Therapists will learn the three sequential phases of intervention with couples recovering from a major betrayal and identify common treatment missteps and how and why to avoid them.
Description
Based upon John Gottman's research as described in The Science of Trust, this workshop will focus on the centrality of trust in relationships. Practitioners will understand the importance of trust-building in everyday moments in working with couples and how best to intervene when there have been ruptures in trust.
