Description

This presentation is designed to raise awareness and understanding of racial microaggressions: the subtle, often unconscious, comments or actions that can perpetuate stereotypes and contribute to a hostile or invalidating environment for marginalized groups.  We will foster a commitment to creating more inclusive and equitable environments by challenging and reducing microaggressions, advocating for marginalized groups, and promoting a culture of empathy and respect.

In this presentation, we will distinguish between microassaults, microinsults, and microinvalidations and discuss the psychological, emotional, and social impact of racial microaggressions on marginalized individuals and communities. We will also introduce practical strategies to identify and address microaggressions in real-time, including effective communication techniques and intervention methods.
