Description
This workshop will teach the most effective brief behavioral strategies for treating insomnia in busy oncology settings and show clinicians how to integrate digital health tools—such as apps and wearable devices—into care. Participants will learn how to use these technologies to strengthen engagement and promote adherence to proven interventions.
Learning Objectives
Participants will be able to:

Apply brief, evidence-based behavioral strategies for managing insomnia in oncology patients that can be seamlessly integrated into a busy clinical workflow.

Educational Goal
The educational goal of this workshop is to enhance clinicians’ ability to integrate evidence-based behavioral strategies and digital health tools into oncology care, fostering greater confidence and competence in delivering personalized, technology-supported interventions for insomnia. This growth will enable participants to improve patient engagement, adherence, and outcomes in future clinical practice.

Presenters
Dr. Benjamin Brewer is a licensed clinical psychologist specialized in psycho-oncology and is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. He is Director of Clinical Psychology and Counseling for the University of Colorado Division of Hematology. His research and clinical interests within psycho-oncology include behavioral sleep medicine, circadian biology and psychosocial factors associated with allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and the impact of transplant on caregivers. He is a member of the NCCN Distress Management Panel. He has a current NIH/NCI sponsored oncology clinician
education program on using technology to augment cancer supportive care, and has been part of many funded national and state-level projects to train frontline psychosocial oncology clinicians to use behavioral sleep medicine approaches adjusted to fit the oncology setting.
Dr. Guy Maytal brings warmth and expertise as Forge Health's Chief Medical Officer, where he leads initiatives to provide effective and affordable psychiatric care to patients with complex medical conditions and their loved ones. With a professional background that has included leadership roles at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medicine and Massachusetts General Hospital, Dr. Maytal enhances the connection between Forge Health's mental health & substance use services and key medical specialties, particularly oncology. Additionally, Forge Health offers specialty mental healthcare to the veterans and first responder (VFR) community, providing compassionate, tailored support to those who serve and protect our communities.
A Harvard College graduate with high honors and Johns Hopkins medical school alum, Dr. Maytal completed his psychiatry residency at Massachusetts General Hospital/McLean Hospital and fellowship at Dana Farber Cancer Institute. His dedication to advancing mental healthcare extends beyond his clinical work through numerous published papers and his role as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Weill Cornell Medical College. As a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association since 2018, Dr. Maytal continues his commitment to training the next generation of clinicians while delivering exceptional care to those who need it most.
