Description

Clinicians are often faced with challenging client conversations.  Handling challenging client conversations on sensitive topics like suicide, sex, drugs (opioids), and rock and roll requires a careful, empathetic, and professional approach. This presentation will explore the language and music of having these tough conversations.  Specific strategies and techniques will be explored to help clinicians navigate these tough conversations.

Presenters

John J. O'Neill EdD, LCSW-S, LCDC

Dr. John O’Neill is the Chief Clinical Officer at Luna Recovery in Houston, Texas. He previously spent 16 years leading treatment programs for The Menninger Clinic and 12 years leading the Houston Astros and The Umpire Development Program mental health and substance use program.  He holds a doctoral degree with an emphasis in behavioral health, a master’s degree in social work from Arizona State University, and is a licensed clinical social worker, chemical dependency counselor, and a certified addiction therapist(sexual).  Dr. O’Neill has appeared and been heard on ESPN Outside the Lines, The Deborah Duncan Show, Fox News, KHOU, National Public Radio, Sirrus XM Radio, and KTRH Radio.
