Description
This workshop examines the ethical considerations that arise when providing mental health care during pregnancy and the postpartum period. Clinicians supporting perinatal clients may encounter complex clinical situations involving professional boundaries, confidentiality, dual roles, client autonomy, personal biases, mandated reporting, and concerns related to client and infant safety. This presentation reviews ethical principles relevant to perinatal mental health and offers a framework for navigating challenging situations while maintaining client autonomy, trauma-informed care, and professional integrity.
