Educational Goal

The educational goal of this workshop is to increase knowledge about counseling ethics and boundaries and the need for self-care.

Description

This workshop provides a general overview of ethics and boundaries in counseling. It covers why ethical standards are needed, ethical principles, confidentiality, and informed consent. We will examine the counseling relationship and how to recognize unhealthy professional boundaries and discuss trends in ethics and areas of ethical difficulty commonly faced by professionals in the field. This workshop will also address a counselor’s need for self-care as an ethical obligation.

Presenters

Kim Arrington, M.Ed, LPC

Kim Arrington has over 15 years of experience in clinical substance use work and 24 years of experience in clinical mental health work. Kim earned both a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a master’s degree in Education/ Counseling and Development from Lamar University.
