Description
Emotional Sobriety, first introduced to the recovery community by Bill Wilson in the 1950s, was rightfully regarded as the next step in recovery. Bill described Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) as a quest for freedom, initially from the shackles of addiction and subsequently, the development of emotional freedom. This encapsulated the essence of emotional sobriety—achieving emotional autonomy. It involves a shift in consciousness from “I am okay if” to “I am okay even if.” Interestingly, this concept was the focus of many psychotherapies. Dr. Berger will delve into the ideas of numerous psychotherapy masters of the 20th century, demonstrating how they too were discussing the path to emotional freedom. Additionally, Dr. Berger will explore strategies for transcending emotional dependency and cultivating a healthy self-reliance.
