Embodied Recovery: Using Somatic Interventions to Support Addiction Treatment

|

Information

Date & Time

Description

In this workshop, participants will explore the relationship between substance use disorders, trauma, nervous system functioning, craving, and recovery through a somatic, nervous system-informed lens. Participants will examine how nervous system dysregulation contributes to the development and maintenance of addiction and learn practical interventions that complement evidence-based approaches such as Motivational Interviewing, CBT, DBT, and relapse prevention. From case conceptualization to intervention, this workshop will demonstrate how somatic practices can be integrated throughout the recovery process. Participants will leave with practical, trauma-informed strategies that can be immediately implemented across the continuum of addiction treatment.

Educational Goal

The goal of this workshop is to expand clinicians' understanding of addiction through a somatic, nervous system-informed perspective and strengthen their ability to integrate somatic interventions into clinical practice. Through this workshop participants will enhance their capacity to support recovery in ways that are trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and grounded in evidence-based care.
