Description

During this webinar, we will review a range of advocacy actions and discuss how to communicate with lawmakers, the process for divisions to devise policy statements, and updates relevant to the division.

Presenters

Doris Parfaite-Claude, MPP

Doris Parfaite-Claude is the Director of Grassroots Engagement with APA’s Advocacy Office, where she is charged with growing and strengthening APA’s grassroots network. Prior to that, she served as Federal Advocacy and Research Manager at the ANCOR, working on disability issues. Before that, she worked as a Legislative Assistant for the NALEO Educational Fund on issues including immigration reform and voting rights. Doris has a Master of Public Policy degree from Georgetown University and an undergraduate degree in Politics from Brandeis University.

Keith Cooke, MA, CAE

Keith Cooke, MA, CAE, is Communications Manager in the Division Engagement Office of the American Psychological Association (APA). He is also a liaison to Divisions 10-19 and 30-39. Keith has worked at APA for 38 years, including 26 years with the APA Divisions. He received a master’s degree in publication design in 2017 and received his Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential from the American Society of Association Executives in 2021.

Erica D. Marshall - Lee, Ph.D., ABPP, ABSMIP

Dr. Marshall-Lee received her undergraduate, master’s and doctorate degrees from the University of Mississippi, and completed her postdoctoral residency at Emory University School of Medicine. Her areas of research are centered on social justice advocacy and equity, diversity, and inclusion with a specific focus on individuals with serious and persistent mental health concerns and minoritized communities, as well as behavioral healthcare learning. She is interested in addressing physical and mental healthcare disparities with minoritized communities, and culturally competent and responsive care, education, and training. She enjoys promoting mental health and well being, and  social justice, and advocacy through work with her professional affiliations at national, state, and institutional levels.
