Participants will be able to:

Identify at least three types of eating disorders and differentiate their core diagnostic criteria using DSM-5 guidelines.

Describe a minimum of three psychiatric disorders commonly co-occurring with eating disorders and explain their impact on treatment outcomes.

Demonstrate the ability to apply one validated screening tool (e.g., the SCOFF questionnaire) to assess risk for an eating disorder in a clinical scenario.

Description
This workshop provides an overview of the most common eating disorders, including anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating disorder, along with their signs, symptoms, and risk factors. It explores the complex relationship between eating disorders and co-occurring conditions such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, and substance use. The importance of early intervention, trauma-informed care, and multidisciplinary treatment is emphasized. Participants will also learn practical tools for screening, referral, and clinician collaboration to support recovery.

Presenters
Jessica Bosse, LCPC and Licensed Clinical Supervisor, has extensive experience in mental health care across settings such as inpatient, outpatient, and rehabilitation programs. She holds a Bachelor’s in Psychology from Salisbury University and a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from Johns Hopkins University.
Jessica specializes in treating addiction, eating disorders, trauma, anxiety, depression, and related conditions. Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and other evidence-based approaches, she tailors treatment to each client’s needs. Committed to creating a safe, supportive space, Jessica believes healing begins with connection. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her family.
